Thoughts on Mindful Consumption

By la, 05/07/2015 - 11:29

(Keep in mind as you read this I'm a synesthetic.)

First bite of breakfast explodes in my mouth, surprisingly light, bright, refreshing.  New flavors.  I realize I'm enjoying a tasty, grain-free, dairy-free, warm breakfast:  chia seeds with coconut butter, banana, maple syrup, and today’s new addition:  kiwi.  That alongside a couple of leftover, reheated celery pancakes -- also grain and dairy-free topped with sour cream (there's the dairy for you!) and sauerkraut.  Breakfast for Sensitives!  Canary Champions!

Rosie and I, sunrise flight on our way to Winter Solstice in Florida

Resonant 2/ January 11, 2015

The days round here are still flying by faster than I would like, although with the short days, perhaps my surprise is unfounded.

I'm writing lots, but not figuring out how to get it out of my journal and onto the internet.  Suggestions are welcome.  I'm celebrating my graduation from the Level I Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training in December!  My personal yoga practice is enhanced by the training, and I begin teaching in Northeast Harbor this week.

Summer on Mount Desert Island

Northeast Harbor, Home of Heart Craft Calligraphy!

The dog days of summer have arrived!  I'm spending more time outside, in direct contact with loved ones, and focusing on my Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training ... not much time to be online!  I'm still journaling every day, and there's lots of writing I'd like to share.  And more calligraphy bubbling up on my Creativity Stove... I expect I'll be back online more often when things settle down after the October move.  So, check back in November, or send me a note:  info@heartcraftcalligraphy.com to inspire me to post again sooner!

Spring Move 2014

By la, 05/21/2014 - 21:01

The lowery days here on the coast of Maine are flying past, and I finally get a chance to sit and type instead of just running my pencil through my journal.

I'm feeling s t r e t c h e d right now. The past several weeks have been full with our annual Spring Move to our Summer Rental. This is our 6th move since we sold our house in 2011. There are benefits to this seasonal moving schedule we are on, along with the challenges.

Vision Improvement

By la, 04/30/2014 - 10:23

I went to the eye doctor this week, and was surprised that once again I have improved my Visual Acuity. Surprised because usually I notice the change more dramatically, and I hadn't this time. Also, I've been working-playing with my vision and my eye health all winter, and was feeling discouraged. So I'm celebrating today that even though my 44th birthday approaches, my capacity for healing is increasing! Revisiting a journal entry from mid-March while at a choice-point in the midst of my healing, I recognized a link to my vision improvement.

Mysterious Phytoplankton in the Northeast Harbor Library!

On Display April 2014 Northeast Harbor Library Art Show

Spring 2013 found me crafting a piece for The Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory's show:  "Art Meets Science."   I found an Albert Einstein quote appropriate:  "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious.  It is the source of all true art and science."

After many drafts, I lettered the quote on an 18" x 24" sheet of watercolor paper.  I then masked the lettering with a sheet of vellum that had a helpful grid!
